Wilbert Cecil Jeffery - Obituary

1930-2017
               The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, with his loving family by his side, of Wilbert Cecil Jeffery, of Alberton (formerly of Alma), age 86. Beloved husband of 56 years to Verna (McDowell) Jeffery. Born in Lauretta on October 5, 1930, he was the son of Louis and Annie Jane (Cannon) Jeffery. Son-in-law of Empress (late Roy) McDowell, O'Leary.
            Loving father to: Carter; Robert (Barbara); Randy (Christine); Late Kerras (Shirley); Diane (Glen) Wallace; Kenneth (Jody); and Darlene (Rheal) Lacroix. Grandfather to: Jennifer (Owen) Pitre; Mark (Mary Ann); Cheryl (Christopher) Clements; Marcy (Devin) Ellis; Courtney (Travis); Corinda; Shaylyn Wallace; Colin Wallace; Stephen; Darcie; and Madeline (Keenen) Arsenault. Great-grandfather to Ciara, Emma, Charlie, Connor & Cadie.
            He is also survived by sisters, Mabel (late Bill) Barnett, Eileen (late Ralph) Greene, and Gladys (late Bill) Grant. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Noreen Jeffery, Millie (Russell) Brown and Elsie (late Allison) Smith. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
            Besides his son Kerras, he was predeceased by brothers Gordon (Freda), Harold (Joey), Sterling and Preston (Delores).
            Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. Visiting hours Thursday, September 21, 2017, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017,  from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel for funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Darroch Fagan officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Alma, PEI.
            Donations in loving memory may be made to Western Hospital, Prince County Hospital or to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Alma.

Robert Douglas (Bobby) Gordon - Obituary

1937-2017
            The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Friday, July 14,2017, with his loving family by his side, of Robert Douglas (Bobby) Gordon of Elmsdale age 80 years. Beloved husband to Ferne Belle (nee Matthew) Gordon. Born at Alma, PEI, on July 28, 1937, he was the son of the late David and Manerva (nee Horne) Gordon.
            Cherished father to Kevin (Darlene) Gordon of Summerside. Loving grandfather to Bobby Jo (Josie) Gordon, of Alma, and Jill (Nick) Heer, of Summerside. Lovingly remembered  by his great-grandchildren, Brayden Arsenault, Luke Gordon, Brianne Gordon, Ella Heer and Claire Heer. Dear brother to Wilna Warren of Maplewood Manor, Alberton, and by special family friends, Marie and Frank Luttrell, of Roseville. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and friends.
            He was predeceased by siblings, Kenneth (Late Mary)Gordon, Grace (Late Elmer) Hamill, Blanche (Late Jack) Clark, Willard Gordon, and Alton (Late Martha) Gordon, and by sisters and brothers-in-Law, Dorothy (Late Earl) Currie, Erskine (Late Shirley) Matthews and Ben Matthews.
            Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel, Alberton, from where a private Family visitation and service will be held, Rev. Robert Lockhart officiating. Interment in the Elmsdale United Church Cemetery.

Brendon Wallace - Obituary

1926 - 2017
Peacefully, at the Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Tuesday, June 19, 2017, of Brendon Edward Wallace, of the Rev. W.J. Phillips Residence, Alberton, and formerly of Elmsdale, age 91 years. Beloved husband of the late Roberta E. (nee Adams) Wallace, and father to the late Reginald Wallace (March 15, 2017). Born at Alma, PEI, on April 4, 1926, he was the son of the late John P. and Eva (nee Gaudet) Wallace.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Frances Wallace, of Elmsdale, and loving grandfather to: Shelley (Duane) Rennie, of Elmsdale, Tanya (Scott) Harper, of Charlottetown, Alex Wallace, of Elmsdale. Caring great-grandfather to Brandon and Heidi Rennie, Madisyn and Thomas Harper, and Hank Wallace. He will be sadly missed by a very dear friend, Marjorie MacKay, of O'Leary.
Dear brother to Katherine (late William) Profit, of Summerside, and brother-in-law to: Eric (Sandra) Adams, of Burlington, Ont., Ruby (Roy) Fraser, of Northport, Lorraine (Fraser) McKinnon, of Summerside, Lillian Adams, of Rosebank, Marge Aukema, of Toronto, Freda Adams, of Moncton, and Lily Riley, of Alberton. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by a sister Jean (late Alton) O'Brien, of Alberton, and by brothers, George and Earl. He was also predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-laws, Florence Wallace, Thelma (late Harry) Wells, Ivan Adams, Alvin Adams, Walter Adams, Elmer Adams, Blanche (late Cleve) Hardy, and Gail MacDonald.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Tuesday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Wednesday afternoon from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel for funeral service at 4:00 p.m., Rev. Lynn McKinnon officiating. Interment in the Elmsdale United Church Cemetery.

1966 - 2017

Peacefully, after a four-and-a-half year battle with cancer, at his late residence, on Thursday, June 1, 2017, with the love and support of his loving family, of Kerras Trent Jeffery, of Alma, aged 51 years. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Hustler) Jeffery. Loving father to Courtney Jeffery (Travis Gaudette) and Corinda Jeffery (Matt Capicotto) and by his special fur baby "Calvin". Born on April 6, 1966, he was the cherished son of Wilbert and Verna (nee McDowell) Jeffery of Alberton.
Dear brother to Carter, Robert (Barb), Randy (Christine), Diane (Glen) Wallace, Kenny (Jody), and Darlene (Rheal) Lacroix. Lovingly remembered by his grandmother, Empress (late Roy) McDowell, of O'Leary.
He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Nick Doucette (Carl), Roy Hustler (Eleanor), Bernice Costain (Gary), Norma Blacquiere (Arnold), Peter Hustler (Lorraine), Winnifred Hustler (Ivan), Priscilla Handrahan (Wendell), Barry Hustler (Rita), Joey Hustler (Darlene) and Normie Hustler (Jaunita).
He will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He will always be remembered by Dwayne & Crystal, Larry & Jane, Dave & Dorothy, Blair & Sharon and Gary & Kim.

Mary E. (Kinch) McNeill Obituary

1938-2017
     At Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 of Mary Elizabeth McNeill, beloved wife of the late Roy McNeill, age 78 years.  Born in Lauretta, P.E.I. on April 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Benedict and Gertrude (nee MacNeill) Kinch.  She is survived by her partner, Sylvere Gallant, of Summerside.
     Dear mother to Rose McNeill, Summerside; George (Diane) McNeill, Norboro; Susan (Danny) Carruthers, Kitchener, ON; Cherished Grandmother to Kevin, Jeffery, Melissa, Matthew, Gregory, Candace, Ricky and Joey.  Great-grandmother to Codilynn, Alexis, Brayden, Hailey, Jayden, Adalynn, Tyson, Samantha, Isabella and Logan.
     Dear sister to Jenny O'Halloran, O'Leary; and sister-in-law to: Doris (late Wilbert) Gray, Mabel (late Jacques) Dumas; Clare (Lorna) McNeill; Theresa (late Ralph) McNeill, Anna (late Ben); Marie (late Lawrence); Esther (late Irving); and Ruthie (late Wilbert).
     She was predeceased by Siblings, Lawrence, Etta, George, Ben, Irving, Lucy, Everett, Dave, Joseph and Wilbert, and sister's-in-law, Eileen Luttrell and Molley Arsenault.
     Resting at Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton.  Visiting hours Friday 6-9 pm.  Funeral Saturday morning from Sacred Heart Church, Alberton for funeral mass at 10:30am.  Rev. Andrew MacDonald, Celebrant.  Interment later in the Church Cemetery.

1863 Lake Map - Alma, Lauretta, Woodale, Montrose

     Many years ago I drew out this map from the 1863 Lake Map. In the middle of the map the "proposed road" would later become the "Centerline Road".  The large numbers indicate the lot number.
